A practical camping power setup does not begin with the biggest advertised wattage. It begins with three questions: how much energy your devices use, how you will recharge away from an outlet, and whether every cable and electrical limit actually matches.

For a US road trip, campsite or short outage, a useful starting point is a 1024Wh LiFePO4 power station, a folding 200W solar panel and a 12V compressor refrigerator. The power station can also run lights, phones and laptops, while the panel gives you a way to recover part of the energy during daylight.

Quick answer: the setup we would build

  • Power station: choose the OUKITEL P1000 Plus when value is the priority, or the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic when official US documentation and the wider EcoFlow ecosystem matter more.
  • Solar panel: a Renogy 200W folding panel is portable enough for car camping, but you must verify voltage, current, connector and polarity for the exact panel and station.
  • Refrigerator: the Alpicool NL 25L listing we checked supports 12/24V DC and 100–240V AC, with 45W ECO and 60W MAX figures shown in the listing.
  • Expectation: one 200W panel is a portable top-up solution. It is not a guarantee that a depleted 1024Wh battery will fully recharge in one ordinary afternoon.

This is a modular setup rather than a fixed bundle. That is useful because you can replace or upgrade one component later, but it also means compatibility is your responsibility.

Choose the power station first

Both stations in this guide use a 1024Wh LFP battery and list 1800W of continuous AC output. They also weigh about 26.5 pounds and accept up to 500W of solar input. In other words, the headline capacity does not decide the comparison.

The OUKITEL P1000 Plus is the value option. Its official specifications list four AC outlets, 100W USB-C, 1200W maximum AC input, a 12–50V/12A solar window and an XT60 solar port. It is a sensible base when you want 1kWh-class capacity at the lowest checked marketplace price and are willing to confirm the seller-specific warranty and package.

The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic costs more in the listing we checked, but EcoFlow provides a clear US specification page, app support and a stated five-year warranty path that includes registration. Its official specifications list 1400W AC charging and 500W maximum PV input.

There is one important limitation for a car-fridge build: EcoFlow's official US specification table says the DELTA 3 Classic has no 12V DC output or Anderson port. Do not confuse it with the DELTA 3 or DELTA 3 Plus, which are different models. With the Classic, use the refrigerator's compatible AC adapter and include inverter losses in your runtime estimate.

Solar compatibility: four checks before connecting

A panel's wattage is only one part of compatibility. “200W panel” does not mean “plug-and-play with every power station.” Check these four items on the labels and manuals for the exact units you receive:

  1. Maximum open-circuit voltage (Voc). The panel or panel string must remain below the station's maximum input voltage, including in cold conditions when panel voltage can rise.
  2. Operating and short-circuit current. The station may limit current, but you should still remain within the manufacturer's permitted input design.
  3. Connector and polarity. Matching plug shapes are not proof of matching polarity. Use the correct solar-to-XT60 or model-specific cable, not an improvised adapter chain.
  4. Total panel wattage. The station will not take more than its stated PV limit. Oversizing can be acceptable only when the manufacturer allows the voltage/current configuration.

Renogy's current official E.FLEX 200W page lists 21.6V open-circuit voltage, 18.8V optimum operating voltage, 10.6A optimum current and 11.3A short-circuit current. Those values fit inside OUKITEL's published 12–50V/12A input window on paper. However, the dimensions and weight shown in the selected AliExpress listing do not exactly match the current official E.FLEX page, so verify the electrical label and included cable on the exact SKU rather than assuming the name alone is enough.

The panel listing describes an IP65 outdoor design. IP65 does not make the entire system waterproof: keep the power station, refrigerator connections and adapters dry, ventilated and out of standing water.

How long can a 1024Wh station run the fridge?

The battery rating is not the energy that reaches an AC appliance. The inverter, wiring, station electronics and low-battery reserve consume part of it. A simple planning formula is:

runtime = battery watt-hours × usable-energy factor ÷ average load watts

For an AC-powered appliance, using an illustrative 85% usable-energy factor gives about 870Wh from a 1024Wh battery. If the fridge drew 60W continuously, the estimate would be:

1024Wh × 0.85 ÷ 60W = about 14.5 hours

At a continuous 45W, the same calculation gives about 19.3 hours. These are deliberately conservative continuous-load examples, not promised refrigerator runtimes. A compressor cycles on and off after the cabinet reaches temperature, so average consumption can be lower. Hot weather, frequent lid opening, freezing instead of cooling, warm food, poor ventilation and AC conversion losses can push it higher.

For a better trip estimate, pre-cool the fridge at home, load already-cold items, measure actual watt-hours over a full day, and keep a reserve for lights, phones and unexpected weather.

DC or AC: which connection should you use?

When a power station provides a compatible regulated 12V output, using the refrigerator's DC cable usually avoids turning battery DC into AC and then back into DC inside the fridge adapter. Fewer conversions generally means less wasted energy.

That rule does not override the manual. Confirm voltage, plug size, polarity and current capability before connecting anything. The selected Alpicool 25L listing showed both a DC cable and an AC adapter. If you choose the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic, its official specifications say there is no 12V car outlet, so the included AC adapter is the straightforward connection.

What can a 200W panel replace in a day?

The ideal calculation for a completely empty 1024Wh battery is 1024Wh ÷ 200W, or 5.1 peak-sun hours. Real panels rarely hold nameplate output for the entire session. Sun angle, haze, heat, shade, cable losses and charging conversion all reduce the collected energy.

For planning, roughly six to nine peak-sun hours may be needed to replace about 1kWh with a single 200W panel, depending on conditions. “Peak-sun hours” are an energy measure, not the number of daylight hours on a clock. Many locations will not provide enough useful sun to refill an empty 1kWh station in one day with one portable panel.

The more practical goal is energy balance. If the fridge and small devices use 400–700Wh over 24 hours and the panel can recover a similar amount during good weather, the trip can continue without returning the battery to 100% every evening. Cloudy days make a reserve or alternate charging source essential.

US buyer's checklist

  1. List every load in watts and include motor startup surges.
  2. Confirm a US outlet/socket version and the condition: new, used or refurbished.
  3. Check the power station's PV voltage, current and connector limits.
  4. Read the solar panel's label; do not rely only on the listing title.
  5. Confirm the refrigerator's selected capacity and included AC/DC cables.
  6. Verify that the selected warehouse can ship to your real US ZIP code.
  7. Review the seller-specific warranty route and return address.
  8. Save screenshots of the variant, delivery promise and final checkout terms.
  9. Test the complete system at home before a long trip.

Safety and realistic limits

  • Keep ventilation openings clear and follow each product's temperature limits.
  • Keep electrical equipment and adapters dry even if the panel itself is weather resistant.
  • Do not connect a portable station to household wiring without approved transfer equipment and a qualified electrician.
  • Never run a gasoline, propane or dual-fuel generator inside a tent, vehicle, garage or other enclosed area.
  • Do not treat this setup as life-safety power. EcoFlow says the DELTA 3 Classic is not recommended for critical medical devices.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 1024Wh power station enough for a weekend?

It can be enough for a compressor fridge, phones, lights and occasional laptop charging if the loads are measured and the battery receives some solar or vehicle charging. Heating appliances can drain 1kWh very quickly.

Can I connect the Renogy 200W panel directly?

Only after checking the exact panel label, station input window, connector, polarity and required cable. The electrical values reviewed here look compatible with the OUKITEL input on paper, but marketplace SKUs and included cables can differ.

Will a 200W panel recharge the station in five hours?

Five hours is the loss-free mathematical minimum at a constant 200W. Real charging normally takes longer, and one day may not provide enough peak sun for a full refill.

Why not buy the largest station?

Larger stations cost more, occupy more vehicle space and are harder to move. Start with a measured daily energy budget, then add a weather reserve.

Which station is the better buy?

The OUKITEL is the value choice at the checked prices. The EcoFlow is the ownership-experience choice when clearer US documentation, app support and the stated warranty path justify the premium. For a 12V fridge, remember that the DELTA 3 Classic lacks a 12V DC output.

Bottom line

A 1024Wh power station, 200W folding panel and 25L compressor fridge make a balanced car-camping system when expectations are realistic. The station supplies overnight energy, the panel replaces part of it during good weather, and the refrigerator is a modest continuous load compared with cooking or heating devices.

The deciding work happens before checkout: measure your loads, choose the exact station model, verify the panel's electrical label and connector, and confirm the US variant and seller terms. Done correctly, the system is useful not only at camp but also for short outages and mobile work.
